Makeup Essentials

Every girl that loves makeup has those key items that she just can’t live without. They’re her life-line…They are the difference between looking “no-makeup” fresh and a hot I’ve-been-sick-with-the-flu mess. These are mine!

Now let me start by saying that I do not wear makeup 24/7. I only wear makeup on the weekends. Because I actually like sleeping in and not having to worry about “eyebrows on fleek” and trust me, everyone at my work my eyebrows are sooo not fleeky during the week. However I LOVE wearing makeup on the weekends, even if I’m not planning on doing things. I’ll just spend an hour glammifying my face and just sit and watch food network. No shame in my lack of game. It’s more of an outlet.

Ok back to the point of this post! These are my essentials for an everyday look. Nothing crazy or glam, just something I’d wear to go run some errands.

Benefit Primer

pore

First things first, I always start with primer. I have combination skin with some texture and large pores. I use benefit pore-fessional. I like to dab and press the primer into my cheeks near my nose, on my nose, and my mustache. These areas tend to have the most texture and I know I like to have airbrush skin even if we all know its all fake.

L’Oreal Foundations

foundation

Next up is L’Oréal Infallible Matte foundation. I’ll dot a mixture of 2 colors (because not one foundation is ever just my shade) all over my face. Then take my Morphe M439 brush, spritz it with MAC fix+ and then lightly buff in my foundation. I feel like it gives a more natural look to my foundation application. But if I’m getting glam, I’ll be a little heavier handed for fuller coverage.

Urban Decay Concealer

Now this step may vary, if I’m in a super rush I will skip concealer. However, if I have an extra 2 minutes I’ll to a little Urban Decay weightless skin concealer under my eyes and on my eyelids and use the same M439 and blend it out.

Shade Light Palette and Becca Palette

contour beccaSetting my under eye and eyelid, I use Kat Von D SHADE LIGHT Face Palette or sometimes I use L’Oréal Infallible Matte pressed powder for a less highlighted look.. I wear glasses so I set the bridge of my nose too so my foundation doesn’t slide around.

To bring some color back into my face, I’ll take my BECCA champagne glow palette and use champagne pop as highlight on the tops of my cheek bones. I never want to look dead! For A light contour, I will take a mixture of the two lightest contour shades in the Shade Light palette and lightly sweep that below my cheek.

Eyebrow Pencil

daiso gel

For eyebrows…since I barely have any, I take a cheap Daiso store (Japanese dollar store) dark brown eyebrow pencil and fill in my sparse brows. Then so they don’t move anywhere, I’ll set them with clear brow gel. I want to invest in Anastasia clear brow gel but mama gotta save money where she can!

Felt tip eyeliner and Mascara

Lastly are the eyes! I have a love hate relationship with felt tip pen eyeliners because they have a tendency to dry out on me, but they are the best for getting that sharp wing liner without any hassle. I recently bought a Sephora brand felt tip waterproof liner, and so far so good. We haven’t had any problems in our relationship. I’ll give myself a wicked winged cat eye and then coat my lashes in Lo’real Manga mascara.

And those are my “every-day” essentials. If I had to take the bare essentials anywhere, like on a trip or on a deserted island, I would take those items! But I should warn you know, my makeup bag actually weighs like 10 ponds because I have a ton of Morphe brushes and palettes… What a girl has to has options!
